After a strong start to the race the number 17 Porsche 919 Hybrid took the lead at the hands of Mark before a drive through penalty dropped them down to second behind their team mates Romain Dumas, Neel Jani and Marc Lieb in the number 18. The sister crew in the 18 car led the field for most of the race but suffered from electrical problems which all but ended their chances, ultimately finishing in sixth and handing the the lead back to car number 17 of Timo, Brendon and Mark who brought their 919 Hybrid home in first place taking back to back wins and boosting their title chances.
