Brendon led the race from pole position until the first round of pitstops where the number 5 Toyota took the lead after a quick stop without taking on tyres. Timo took over during the pitstop on lap 23 and was gaining on the Toyota at the hands of Buemi, the two drivers diced for the lead but unfortunately the number 1 919 Hybrid picked up a puncture due to debris on the track and after stopping for new tyres had dropped back to 5th position. Mark took over the car but the bad luck struck again and the car suffered another puncture and needed to pit again. When the number 1 re-joined with Brendon at the wheel they were 5 laps down but still suffering, the car had gearbox issues and needed a lengthy pitstop for repairs. Mark rejoined the race but by this point the car was 51 laps down, after a trouble-free stint the gap had reduced to 49 laps. Timo took over from Mark before Brendon jumped in for the final stint to bring the car home in 26th place overall and seventh in the LMP1 class.
