UPDATE ON MARK’S CONDITION
Mark spent the night in a local hospital in São Paulo where he underwent further checks. He sustained bruising and concussion in the accident he suffered in Sunday’s six-hour race.
“I’m quite sore this morning and am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache,” Mark said earlier today.
“I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened – the team is looking into the details to find out more.
“Thanks to the medical team at the track and here at the hospital who did a great job and are looking after me very well. On a positive note it’s great that the boys in car no. 14 managed to bring home the victory which is a fantastic way to finish off the season. I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year.”
Mark is still under care at the hospital but is set to return to the UK later this week.

on December 1, 2014 ReplyHello Mark,
On a positive note , congratulations for achieving pole position in the last race of the season , and for your Porsche team winning the race.
I am sure you will reflect on your ‘DNF’ in a professional ‘matter of fact’ way as an occupational hazard of being a professional racing driver, and will be positively looking forward to the next racing season. -

on December 2, 2014 ReplyMark–ouch! Relieved is hardly the word to convey how happy we all are that you are only banged up, and nothing worse. I think Marc Lieb’s face reflected all of our feelings while watching the video. You’ve been my favorite driver for years (saw you live in Austin this year–wicked rain storm!), and I look forward to watching you bring Porsche forward next season!

on December 2, 2014 ReplyHallo Mark

on December 2, 2014 ReplyThanks for getting the WEC on the BBC, even winning Le Mans doesn’t do that. Not that I am encouraging it, but if you hit that same wall a third time you get to keep it. Glad everything is tickety boo.

All the best and enjoy the upcoming holiday season.

on December 5, 2014 ReplyHi Mark,
Glad you’re doing better, I was there at Le Mans in 1999 when you flew with the CLR , I saw your looping in 2010 with the Red Bull F1 and saw this crash live on Eurosport. I AM a big Porsche fan but maybe it is better to quit racing now and become a Porsche ambassador…there is only one life mate.
Kind regards,
A.J. from Utrecht, the Netherlands.

on January 22, 2015 ReplyMark, glad to hear you are doing OK after that huge crash. God bless the car designers that engineered the chassis and driver’s compartment to allow you to basically “walk away” from such a huge energy transfer.
I’ve been a huge fan of yours since ’99 when you tried to “fly” your Le Mans car!
