Mark named in Australia Day Honours List
Mark Webber was today named as an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the Australia Day Honours list.
The proud Aussie received his country’s highest national honour for ‘distinguished service to motor sport as a competitor and ambassador, and to the community through fundraising and patronage of a range of medical and youth support organisations.’
Mark spoke with a News Corp reporter about the recognition; “I didn’t expect it at all. It’s a bit of a surprise, but I think it’s an absolute honour to be recognised at that level. It’s been a long-term run over here. I left a long time ago, and it’s been nice to fly the flag. You don’t look back too much … but I hope I represented Australia as best I could.”

on January 27, 2017 ReplyWell done, Aussie Grit. Saw you drive at Le Mans 2016. It was the best time I’ve ever had. We were in the Porsche marquee at the start of the pit strait, meals, drinks the lot. Got to talk with some of the older Porsche drivers. But mate, those jelly beans you guys threw out at the drivers parade, on the Friday eve, that was tight, bloody crook actually.
